Save search#
The Save search dialog stores a search term, the active filters, and the active column preset under a name so you can re-apply the whole combination later from the Finder. Saved searches are personal, they are not visible to other users.
Rights#
No administrative right is required. Any user can create, apply, and delete their own saved searches.
Save the current search#
- Open the Finder.
- Type a term in the search box (
What are you looking for?) and press Enter, or apply filters from the Filters dialog, or both. - A Save button appears next to the search box once the search is active.
- Click Save.
The Save search dialog opens with the following fields:

| Preset for | yes | Combobox showing the column preset that will be remembered with this search. Defaults to the currently active preset (for example default). |

Click Save & apply to save the search and immediately apply it. Click Cancel or the × in the top right to leave without saving.
