Collections#

A collection is a thematic grouping of classes. Collections give the Finder its high-level structure, when Show empty classes is on, the class list is grouped by collection so it is easier to find the class you need.

Out of the box i-doit up ships with collections for Hardware, Network devices, Software, People & organizations, Locations, Networking, and similar.

Where collections appear#

  • In the class list sidebar of the Finder, classes are grouped by their collection.
  • The Settings ▸ CMDB Configuration ▸ Collections page is the admin surface, see Manage classes and collections.

Working with collections#

  • A class can belong to more than one collection. Adding or removing the assignment is an admin action.
  • Deleting a collection only removes the grouping, the classes themselves stay in place.
